MyBambu mobile banking platform: financial tools for the underserved

MyBambu set out to give underserved communities access to real financial tools, debit cards, international money transfers, savings, and check deposits. Backed by FISGlobal and built to process 75 billion+ transactions globally, they needed a partner who could deliver a production-grade platform from the ground up.

The underserved population in the U.S. has long been excluded from traditional banking. MyBambu was built to change that, offering a bilingual (Spanish & English) digital banking experience with debit cards, international transfers, and immediate check deposit access. With FISGlobal backing and a global transaction network behind them, the stakes for quality were high.

Metova provided the full engineering team to take MyBambu from concept to launch. That meant assessing and rewriting the mobile codebase, building out feature integration across third-party SDKs, and delivering a refined UX that made complex financial operations feel simple for first-time digital banking users.

When Metova reviewed MyBambu's existing mobile and web applications, it was clear the foundation wasn't ready for launch scale. The mobile codebase needed significant improvement across architecture, stability, and performance. Shipping new features on top of it wasn't an option.

On top of the technical debt, bringing a transactional banking app to market meant integrating a complex web of third-party SDKs, each with its own security requirements, documentation, and representative teams to coordinate with. Getting all of that right, on time, for a bilingual audience with no prior digital banking experience, was the real challenge.

Metova started with a comprehensive research, strategy, and tech assessment. We identified every architectural weakness, created a full remediation plan, prioritized the work, and rebuilt the mobile foundation, then launched the MyBambu app on both iOS and Android.

Throughout development, we collaborated directly with MyBambu stakeholders to translate business requirements into polished features. User stories, UX flows, and content architecture drove both the mobile app and website wire-frames, ensuring the product vision was preserved from first-draft spec to shipped feature.

SDK integration was handled end-to-end, Metova made the team fluent in each third-party SDK's documentation, coordinated with each vendor's representatives, and optimized the implementation workflow so every integration landed on time.
